The Camp Entrance

A shy, black and white tom lurked near the apprentice den. He caught a glimpse of Sand, the she-cat rogue, then slipped towards the Pines following behind the other cats. He stopped and glanced towards IslandPaw, "Are you coming?"

Sand smiled back. "Hi." She paused, "I'm Sand." She answered to Islandpaw, then frowned when another apprentice asked if the she-cat apprentice was going. Sand was starting to feel alone already.

Viper padded in and smiled to Sand. "Hi! Im Viper," He gave a broad grin, looking over to Battle and Island, wondering where they were going. He shrugged and blinked his big blue eyes. "Who are you?" He asked kindly.

"I'm Sand." She said cutely, not understanding his question.

"I'll meet you there," the almond apprentice yelled back to BattlePaw. She smiled and turned her head to Sand, "Nice to meet you Sand! Are you a kittypet?" She asked, tilting her head, slightly, "How did you get here?"

"I don't know what a kittypet is..." Sand answered back, but if she was older to understand the answer would have been rogue.

Feralclaw was sitting not far from the entrance staring out into the forest

Sparrowpaw walked over to Feralclaw "H-Hello." he mewed "W-Why do you treat mistysky so special?" he asked

"Did you not know were mates?" he meowed

The almond colored apprentice smiled to the small cat, "A kittypet is a cat who lives with the two-legs," she said. She flicked her fluffy, squirrel like tail out at Sand, giggling in amusement.

Sand puffed out her little chest, "My mother took me all over the place... so I don't think I lived there."

"Perhaps you were a loner then?" She tilt her head, her eyes bright. "I've never met a real loner before," she said. "Are you going to join SombreClan?"

Sand wasn't sure what to say but she remembered her mother saying her father was bad, "My father used to kill others for prey... mother didn't always agree with him." She listened to Islandpaw ask her question and shook her head. "I'm waiting for my mom to get me."

IslandPaw slowly nodded. The almond she-cat could help but feel sad for the she-kit, although she barely knew her. "Who brought you here, do you know?"

"Wish... Wishingfeather...?" Sand was asking instead of saying the name because she was still getting used to the she-cat that had brought her here.

A fluffy gray she-cat padded out of the medicine cat den. Her fur scenting strongly of mixed herbs. She eyed Sand and quickly approached her. "Why hello, sweetheart," she said, softly. "My name is PebbleStorm, I'm a medicine cat here. Are you hungry, cold, in any pain or anything?" She tilt her head then glanced to IslandPaw.

SnakeHiss eyed the kit, his gaze shifted to IslandPaw. He smiled at her, taking in her features; she looked so similar to SnakeHiss, yet with some differences. He approached her and licked her forehead. "Have you made a new friend?" He asked her. "Hi," he said, softly to Sand.

Sand looked up at the she-cat that approached them and listened to her question. "I'm a little hungry." Her mother had hunted for her before she had left, Sand didn't know her mother had fled and died in the river. Sand looked at the tom and smiled, "Hello."

IslandPaw nodded, "I sure have, Daddy!" The fluffy apprentice nuzzled SnakeHiss, her pale green eyes widened. "Shall we go join the battle now, dad?" She meowed, staring up at him with wide eyes. The apprentice glanced in the direction of the pines then quickly galloped off, "Bye Sand!"

Sand watched Islandpaw run off and wanted to go with her, but there were still some cats still in camp. She would sneak out later when nobody was paying attention to her.

Vanishingkit Smiled brightly. "My name is VanishingKit.. Are you new here in the clan?" she gave a casual tilt of her head, her blue orbs watching the other kit.. Excitement at a new friend flooding off of her in deep waves.

Sand looked at the other kit and smiled, "Hi Vanishingkit..." She shook her head to the other kit. "No, I'm waiting for my mommy to come and get me." Implying that she wasn't planning on staying even though a she-cat from the clan had brought her here shortly after finding her.

The large silver-tabby briskly entered. He bowed his head to Sand. "Now," he meowed, "I hear you were found on our borders. I'm HowlingStar, the leader of SombreClan. Do you have a name?"

RainStorm would bound in, with a flick of her tail. Pale green eyes curious.

Wishy trotted to Sand with the mouse dangling in her jaws. "Here you go Sand" She set the prey down and nodded to her leader.

"You found her, on the border? Did she have anyone with her at all?" The silver-tabby inquired, his head tilt to Wishingfeather.

"No. No one, but there were paw brints that led to broken ice." She replied and looked beyond trying to peaice things together.

The fawn colored deputy approached the leader and kit. "Would you like me to send out a patrol, HowlingStar?" The deputy meowed, her eyes warm as they rested on the small kit.

(I thought Misery and Wish saw the mother fall into the water?)

(They saw a cat who was the mother fall into the water yes.)

Sand was about to answer the leader but Wishingfeather came back and answered her name for her, Sand stared at the prey not sure if she wanted to eat it, she wanted her mother.... "What about my mother?" She didn't know her mother fled and ran to the ice and fall in because it had broken... she didn't know her mother was dead.

(I thought wishy didn't)

Wishingfeather laied her ears back before she spoke, "um... Sand theres something I need to tell you... about your mother. She isn't comeing back." The silver striped she cat didn't know what to say and that was the only words that fell out of her mouth.

(I thought they both seen her... well Miserycloud seen a she-cat fleeing, I'd check the border thread to know for sure.)

Sand looked up at Wishingfeather. "What?" Sand couldn't believe what the she-cat just said to her. "Of course she is coming back, she always comes back." She didn't believe the she-cat claimed her mother wouldn't return for her.

"It is hard to think of, but she isn't going to. She must of fallen into the ice.... Sh-she's dead Sand...
" Wishingfeather felt terrible but she needed to tell her now or never.

Sand didn't believe her, her mother always came back and this she-cat was claiming her dead. "No she isn't dead." She argued, turning to flee out of camp.

(Feel free to pick her up and bring her back, this kitty is going to become apart of SC.)

GrouseWarmth lunges for the kit, watching he attempt to escape the clan camp. "I'm sorry. It's too cold outside the camp, you won't survive... Your mother would want you to stay safe, and we can look after you here until you get a bit older." She turns to HowlingStar, her eyes had become distant and blurred the more of their recent conversation she had listened too, "We can't let this kit go out, she won't survive a sun-high on her own!"

"He never said he was going to turn her away," the black she-cat meowed as she stepped out of the warriors den. "I did see the kit's mother fall beneath the ice," she said, softly, attempting to keep her voice low to prevent the kit from hearing. "What is it you wish for the kit?" She meowed to HowlingStar, her vibrant green eyes softened; she had a feeling he would not turn her away, kits are.. Kits after all.

Sand was picked up by GrouseWarmth. "But I want my mommy!" She didn't believe her mother was gone. Seeing Miserycloud again made her feel somewhat better.

Howlingstar gave a swift nod to MiseryCloud and Grousewarmth. "Someone fetch her some prey," he meowed, "She can stay with us for a quarter-moon, hopefully, by then, it is warmer and the kit can make her mind up as if she wishes to stay or not." The silver-tabby crouched down beside the small kit and gave her a gentle nuzzle, "Sand, is it?" He meowed, "Your mother is gone. But," he said, "If you still feel she is out there - I will arrange for some cats to search for her. But, you need to stay warm and safe. You can trust us," he meowed. "You can stay in the Nursery, where it is warm, with the other kits your age. If we find your mother, we will tell you and bring you to her."

Sand looked at Howlingstar and started liking him already. "Okay." She answered him back before looking at the prey that Wishingfeather had already brought out for her. "I think Wishingfeather brought that for me." She pointed at the prey with her paw.

The silver-tabby smiled, "Okay," he said, nodding to the prey. The leader then batted a paw, lightly, at Sand's whiskers, his golden eyes had softened.

Sand sat on the ground smiling at the leader. "Maybe my mom will come and join the clan." She answered Howlingstar, slowly eating the prey Wishingfeather had brought for her.

The she-cat grimaces, a solemn expression over taking her feTures.

Snakehiss's expression tightened as he listened to the conversation about the kit's mother. "I will go and search for her," he offered. The mottled warrior's tone was gruff, almost grouchy seeming, yet his motives were kind.

Wishingfeather let everything go by, she was going to fech Sand but others already had. Instead she just sat there watching over the kit with sad yet soft eyes.

Sand smiled at Snakehiss. "Okay let me know when you find her." Little did she know that she was never going to see her mother ever again. Sand moved towards Wishingfeather and snuggled next to her.

Smokeclaw so his clan mates. He walks over and says"hi there Snakehiss, and wishingfeather."

vanishingkit tumbles out of the nursery, her fur fluffing up as she did.. With eyes wide she ventured farther out into the camp, picking up her paws up high, making her look rather goofy

HowlingStar turned to Snakehiss and gave him a swift nod. "Take Grousewarmth with you," he meowed.

"There is a small chance that we may not be able to find her," she said, softly, having heard MiseryCloud's comment about the mother beneath the ice. "It could be that the she-cat is in StarClan, now, sweet kit," she said. The fawn colored deputy gently leaned against the leader, her eyes fastened on the kit. "If we cannot find her mother, she will want to leave. We cannot force her to stay, yet, we cannot allow for her to go off and die out there. It is simply too cold," she whispered to HowlingStar, quietly, ensuring barely anyone could hear.

Wishingfeather purred to the kit as she listaned to everyone. Curling her tail around did she try to help prevent the cold to getting Sand. "What were some of your adventures with your mom, you don't have to talk about it but im fine to hearing you out." She said softly to the kit while gazing down apone her.

The medicine cat pressed her nose, gently, to Sand, not wishing to frighten her. "I'm just checking you over, making sure you are not ill or wounded," she said, "Do you have a sore throat or anything?"

Grousewarmth gives a nod, before stretching and scrambling to her paws. "We will do our best... Let StarClan help us find the kits mother.." She mews, before casting a glance to as SnakeHiss.

MiseryCloud kindly smiled to the kit then slipped away, ducking inside the warriors den.
