Dyani and Shanook's Hunting Trip. - Private.

Shanook approached some thick, long yellow grass and sat down in the bushes, peering through down to the elk herds. He glanced behind him, searching for Dyani with a content smile on his muzzle.

Dyani brushed up beside Shanook, her paw-steps silent as she crept through the long grass. "Ooh," she whispered, "Don't they look tender?"

Shanook smiled at the wolf's touch and nodded. "They do," he said, softly, careful not to alert the herd below. "I haven't had an elk in awhile," he said, glancing across to her. "It seems I've forgotten how juicy they are." He licked his lips and stifled a small laugh.

She laughed, lightly, "You've forgot?" She gasped, "That's not good! You must try some this instant!" She joked and gazed out at the herd, picking through them to see which one was the weakest. "What do you think about that runt on the end, there? It seems to be lagging behind."

Shanook continued to hold back his laugh then moved, slowly, further in the grass to get a better look at the herd. "I like the way you think," he replied. "You take that side and I take this? We can surround it and drag it off to the side." Shanook stretched his legs, his eyes fastened on the runt elk.

The she-wolf nodded in agreement then without hesitation, she dashed out of the long grass and began to run to the herd, her eyes locked on her target. Her paws thudded heavily against the dusty ground.

Shanook leaped out of hiding, bolting towards the weakest elk. He glanced across to Dyani to see where she was. The male wolf gained on the weakest elk, attempting to out-run the elk and make it swerve towards Dyani.

Dyani could almost taste the fresh meat of the elk. It swerved and began to run in peculiar angles with confusion. Dyani sprinted after it, her eyes glued with determination. As she came closer and closer to the elk, she prepared to pounce. She leaped, swiping her large claws down the brown creatures back. She pierced it's body with her razor sharp teeth and brought it down to the ground.

Shanook began to slow down. He came to a stop when he reached his friend and the elk. "Nice," he said, nodding impressively.

She flushed, "Well, I couldn't have done it without you," she replied. Dyani inhaled the scent of the elk, grinning proudly. "Take the first bite," she said as she stepped aside for Shanook.

Shanook sat down beside the Elk, he wavered then slowly bent over and began to tear into the Elk. He gulped down a few mouthfuls, hungrily. He elevated his head and began to lick around the edges of his mouth with his long tongue. He sighed, shaking his head, "You were right," he barked, smirking, "Very tender. It has been too long."

"Aren't I always right?" She joked. She flicked her tail sideways and took a bite herself. She chewed the tender meat, blood wetting the tips of the fur around her muzzle. "Very tender," she smiled in delight and took another bite.

Shanook laughed loudly then gently batted a paw out at her.

She play-bowed and wriggled her rump, excitedly. She let out a loud playful growl and leaped at him. Her fluffy reddish colored paws cupped at his ears. "Teach you for swiping at me," she said with a sly smirk sprawled across her expression.

Shanook let out a playful wail and rolled onto his back; allowing Dyani to tackle him. "Oooh!" He exclaimed, flattening one ear whilst smirking. "Now, I know.. Never to mess with you!" He laughed and gently nipped at her ears.

She buried her head into his fur and gave a small giggle, "I am the conqueror!" She howled, tilting her head back. She flicked her ears and shot him a cheeky grin. She remembered the male wolf and Katani in the cave entrance then gently laughed and rolled off him; not understanding what was going on between him and the other wolf. She didn't want to interfere, even if she did have feelings for him. "So, Delta, huh?" She lay beside him, breathing steadily, "It's an honor. But, I couldn't have thought of someone better for the position," she glanced across to him.

Shanook's large fluffy tail moved rapidly across the ground, wagging in happiness. Shanook tilt his head, slightly, feeling something made the she-wolf uneasy. "Something wrong?" He barked, concern flooded his eyes. Shanook pressed his nose to her cheek, smiling. The large male wolf then sprawled out, relaxing. "Thank you," he said. "I'm honored that I was chosen. Aiyana and Okami are still contemplating who will be Delta Female," he eyed her, "You never know.."

She shyly met his gaze, longing to ask him about who he had feelings for, but she shook her head. I'll just wait.. She blushed and shook her head, "No. I doubt I'd ever be considered. The Delta's are so strong, brave, intelligent." She nudged him, teasingly. The leaves on the branches above her swayed, her eyes fixed on them with fascination. "There are other wolves within the pack who work hard and achieve such great things. But, I mean, I would be honored. But, I don't think I would ever be considered." She gently flicked her tail at him, parting her jaws in a smirk.

"You're saying you're not strong, brave or intelligent?" He genuinely seemed confused, his grey ears were against his head. "Where have you been hiding? The shadows!" He rolled over, onto his stomach, his eyes on Dyani. Shanook pressed his nose firmly into her stomach. "You're a very brave, intelligent and a strong wolf."

Dyani felt herself blush. "Thank you," she said as she gently licked his muzzle.

(Should we leave it as they don't know? Dyani was made the Delta Female - I GOT A PM FROM AIYANA!!! but since it started before we knew, should we just leave it as they don't know? Make sense? xD)

Shanook cheekily booped Dyani with his tail then sat up, his muzzle opened and a large yawn escaped. "Ya know," he said, smirking, "I've always wondered why us adult wolves never play pup games anymore." He faked a slight pout, "We're still pups deep down?" His head tilt to the side in an innocent and somewhat sad manner. He remained in that pose for a few moments before leaping at Dyani whilst playfully growling.

Dyani let out a loud cry as she tumbled down to the ground. The weight of the large male did not phase her. She swiped at his nose with her small gingery red paws, her eyes twinkling at the playful banter. "I know, right!?" She gasped, as if shocked. She gently prodded the male wolf's stomach, "Seems someone is a bit too big for playfighting." A cheeky grin displayed across her muzzle. He and I.. We need to talk.. I need to know where I stand.. I will, later.

Shanook smirked and gently nipped at her ear. "Me? Too large!" He shook his head, "Never!" He laughed, like a roar of lightning on a stormy day.

She flushed then attempted to push him off. Her gingery red tail whisking across the ground. "We need to talk," she said, nervously, an ear flat against her head.

Shanook rolled off Dyani and flattened one ear, concern running through his body like venomous snake bite. "What's wrong?" He tilt his head at the thought that maybe he had offended her or something.

She shook her pelt out then glanced up at him. Her eyes on his, briefly. She was frightened about what he would say. How would she even say it? Dyani shuffled her paws in the dirt, her gaze dropped to her paws. "I like you, a lot, Shanook," she said, her tone quietened. "But, I don't know where I stand. Do you like Katani, as well? Do I fit into your heart, as well?"

Shanook knew this was coming, from Dyani or Katani. He took a step forward, his fur touching Dyani's. "Of course you have a place in my heart," he said, softly, "I like you a lot. But, I do have some feelings for Katani as well." The shaggy grey and white tom sighed, slowly, this choice was hard for him. "I admit, I have more feelings for you. I do like you a lot more. But, there are still feelings for Katani." Shanook slightly smiled, pressing his nose to Dyani's cheek. "Give me some time so I can decide."

Dyani felt somewhat relieved, although somewhat upset. He could still choose her.. She shook away the thought and gently pressed against him. "I will give you all the time you need," she said, smiling up at him. "Now, where were we.." She slowly averted her gaze then leaped at him. Her eyes wide and her paws out-stretched.

Shanook lowered his head, sadness consumed him as he feared he had hurt the wolf. "Thank you for understanding. The last thing I want to do is hurt you," he said, shyly. He howled as he stumbled backwards, a smile tugged on his muzzle. "Hey!" He barked as he swiped a paw out at her nose.

She flushed at the comment and licked his ear. "You're such a kind wolf," she said.

Shanook loudly laughed. The grey and white wolf ambled over to her and bumped into her gently. "I'm starved," he said, frowning. "The pack's territory is really becoming scarce of prey. Do you want to go back to that carcass and see if there's still meat on it?"

She licked his ear and nodded. Her greeny colored eyes twinkled in the moonlight glare. She eagerly bounded over towards the remains. "Yes, lets! Perhaps if there is even extra, we can take it back to the cave for the others," she leaned over, brushing her pelt against Shanook's.

Shanook let out a loud, delighted laugh. He bounded over to the carcass and began to search for remains. "Ohh, look," he grinned in glee, "I found some! Do you want this bit?" He nuzzled Dyani gently with the end of his nose.

Dyani eyed the carcass, scanning it for remaining prey. A smile came to her muzzle as she sighted a few loose chunks of meat hanging from the creature. She glanced across to Shanook and flushed slightly, shaking her head. "No, no," she said, politely, "You can have that bit. There's more over here."

Shanook gently bumped into the she-wolf, teasingly. His golden eyes glinting. "Are you sure?" He barked.

Dyani shyly glanced down at her paws, her heart racing. "I am," she said as she trotted closer to the beast. She nibbled at the remaining pieces of flesh.

Shanook nodded and teared into the flesh. The meat almost melted in his mouth. Once he finished gulping down the remaining bits of excess meat, he approached Dyani. The large shaggy greyish wolf nervously shuffled his paws. "I think I've been fooling myself," he said, his golden eyes fixed on Dyani. "I've been denying it to myself," he glanced down to his paws and shook his head. "Another she-wolf," he grinned slightly, "Maybe once, but, not for awhile." Shanook drew closer to Dyani, his pelt against hers. "It's always been you. Dyani, I'm in love with you. I was just afraid to admit it, afraid to say it because I was not sure how you would react. But, sometimes you need to take risks and I don't want to deny it anymore, Dyani."

Excitement rushed through the she-wolf. Dyani couldn't believe her ears, am I hearing this correctly? She felt her flesh warm up, almost burn. "You l-love me?" she asked once he finished speaking. She kept her golden eyes on his, her russet pelt against his. "You did not need to worry about my reaction," she said, softly, her eyes warm. "Because.. I love you too. As such as Freki loved Akela."

Shanook lightly nipped at Dyani's ears. The male felt a rush of warmth within his body. He leaned closer to her, his mouth next to her ear. "Really? If you love me that much, would you consider becoming my mate?" He smirked, slightly, knowing how cheesy his proposal was.

"That's cheesy," she retorted teasingly. Dyani licked Shanook's nose. Her head bobbled up and down, "Of course I would, in fact, I'd be more than glad to be your mate." The russet she-wolf stifled a laugh. "

Shanook's tail wagged ecstatically. "Ooh, trust me, I can be worse," he said, laughing loudly as he buried his head into her fur. "You have certainly made me the happiest wolf in this Kingdom."

Dyani blushed and nuzzled him, lovingly. Her eyes on him. "I love you," she whispered lightly.

"I love you, too," he said, licking her cheek.

Dyani blushed and buried her head into his shoulder. "Do you want to go for a walk?"

Shanook gave her a loving nuzzle. "I'd love to," he said.

Dyani got to her paws and padded alongside her mate, her shaggy pelt pressing into his as she walked. "The battle," she whispered, "It was rather interesting..I am upset to know the sky-wolves are so angry. I would have assumed they would be pleased as we were feeding ourselves. But, maybe angered for hurting others."

Shanook gave her a thoughtful look then nodded, an ear flat. "That is true," he said. "Perhaps they were angered that we took it too far and fought them for the territory which was not rightfully ours."

"Maybe.." She said, deep in thought. She glanced up to him and buried her head into his shoulder.

Shanook gently licked his mate's cheek then padded down through the brush. His shaggy grey pelt blowing in the breeze.

She blushed and gently nipped at his ears. "You're so wonderful," she said, breathing lightly. She shivered, her ears flattening. Her throat was dry and she spluttered, coughing. SHe quickly flattened her ears and glanced to Shanook.
