Snowpelt and Raggedstep go Hunting Empty Snowpelt and Raggedstep go Hunting

Post by Guest on Wed Dec 11, 2013 7:35 pm

The she-cat crouched down by the Rock Pile's pool of water, and gently lapped at it's fresh contents. She shakes off a chill from the coolness of it, then wipes the remaining drops of water off her whiskers with a paw. Although prey was much less abundant due to the season, the Rock Pile still harbored some small animals. Distracted from her thoughts by footsteps, her ears perk, and she turns her head to see Raggedstep. "Fancy seeing you here," she meows with a toothy grin. "Would you mind going hunting with me? I'm sure we'd find more prey together considering the weather."

"Sure," the nimble tom smiled warmly, shaggy, storm cloud gray fur billowing slightly in the brisk wind that accompanied the falling snow. "Some prey must still be out and about - the snow isn't too thick."

Snowpelt nods, "My pelt isn't blending into the snow quite yet," she meows with a chuckle, "so prey can't be hidden too well." She raises her nose up, and perks her ears up as well.

His blunt muzzle parted as he scented the air, yellow eyes intensely focused as he located a prey scent. Dropping into a stealthy crouch, he slyly crept forth, close to the ground.

Snowpelt watches his hunting form, and gives a silent nod of approval. She slinks down as well, believing she heard shuffling near the edge of the rock pile, where small bushes lie.

Her turn to grab some prey, she swiftly pounces- yet the she-cat is still a second too late. She sighs as a squirrel bounds away. She turns to Raggedstep, brushing off any jealousy, "Nice catch! You're pretty agile," she meows with small smile.

He looked up, swiftly cooling prey clamped loosely in his jaws. "Thanks," he mumbled around the furry creature.

"You're welcome," Snowpelt says with a small smile. "I'd better catch something before going back to camp, shouldn't I?"

The she-cat appreciates the tom's patience, grinning back at him. Going back into hunting mode, she perks her ears and opens her mouth. She crouches down by a small crack in the rocks, until a decent sized vole starts to skitter about from it. She quickly pounces and sticks her claws into the critter, biting its neck for good measure.
