EchoRiver's den

The silver-tabby she-cat with a creamy white underbelly entered. In her small mouth, she held a leaf carrying herbs. She lowered her head, placing the leaf neatly on the ground, her pale green eyes observing her surrounds. A thin smile formed across her white muzzle as she began to sort the herbs she collected.

*Dewpaw walked in* "Do you need any help EchoRiver?"

Her tabby tail flipped sideways, crossing her paws. "Actually, yes," she said. "We are low on cobwebs. Fetch me some cobwebs and then when you return, tell me what they are used for and how you use them."

*Dewpaw ran out of the den.She later returned with cobweb all over her fur* "Cobweb is used stop the bleeding of a wound and to use Iit you simply apply to a wound."

She took the cobwebs and placed them to the side, nodding. "Correct," she said, smiling. "Some herbs which treat infection of large wounds are Goldenrod, Chervil - should be used respectively, Marigold, and HorseTail. HorseTail, however, is not really found on our territory. It is usually located in Swamp lands more so than here," she said. The medicine cat briefly smiled, her tail flicked across her paws. "So, those herbs are used for large wounds and infections. Can you name two herbs, which I have not said, which are used for rat bites?"

*She cocked her head to the side* "Burdock root and ?"  "Anyways, I'm going to see to everyones needs around the camp" *Dewpaw padded out*

The medicine cat narrowed her eyes, "You are in the middle of a training lesson. That is incredibly rude and disrespectful!" She angrily flicked her tail across her paws, "You will stay and hear the remainder of what we are learning and then you may," she said. "Two herbs which cure rat bites and infections are Burdock Root and Wild Garlic." She rose to her paws, "And you better adjust your attitude, DewPaw." She padded out of the den.

FrostStream padded three-legged into the den. "EchoRiver? I have a thorn in my paw!" She said, and continued to lick it, the deep thorn embedded in her right front paw.

*Dewpaw turned around and walked over to FrostStream* "She just left" "So you have a thorn in your paw" *She gently grabbed the thorn between her teeth and pulled* "There, lick it until it stops bleeding*

Froststream nodded. "Thank you." She meowed as she began to lick her paw more.

WaspSting entered and dropped two mice in the medicine cat den, then padded out.

The medicine cat dashed in, "Ohh, a thorn in a paw?" She observed the warrior's paw then nodded. "Good work, DewPaw. But, don't forget the poultice for infection." The medicine cat went to her storage of herbs and returned with some leafy green herbs which she began to chew and make a poultice of. "This is chervil, it is for infected wounds and bellyaches. But, you must use this herb respectively." She began to spit and spread the poultice across FrostStream's wound, allowing for the juices of the Chervil to seep into the she-cats wound. "There," said EchoRiver. "I want you to rest for the remainder of the sunrise and don't put all your weight onto that paw. You should be feeling better soon."

Froststream nodded.

EchoRiver flicked her grey ears then turned to her apprentice. "Back to training. I actually have a practical task for you. Something that will get you out and walking around the territory." She sat down, curling her tail neatly around her paws. "I want you to fetch me some Poppy seeds. Poppy seeds are the seeds within a poppy. They're tiny and black, be careful not to confuse them with Foxglove seeds. Foxglove seeds are also tiny and black, but are a fatter shape than Poppy seeds. They can cause heart failure and can paralyze, where as Poppy seeds are used to help cats sleep, soothe cats who are distressed and used to help stop the pain in wounds.
Poppy seeds are not used for queens though, do you know why this is?" She tilt her head.

"Why?!"

"I know I'm not your mentor, but you should be glad to go on such a mission. You'll get to learn the difference between Foxglove and Poppy plants, maybe find yarrow or some other plant on the way. You should be more enthusiastic." She scolded gently, not trying to seem like her mentor. She continued licking her paw, then checked it. It was still stinging, but it didn't bleed anymore.

"I am exited, I'm just very curious!"

She frowned to her apprentice, her head slowly shook. "Because I have asked you to. Are you going to answer my question or not regarding poppy seeds? You know, I am truly beginning to wonder if the path of medicine is really your path at all. You don't seem to be very enthused, or determined, or respectful." She turned to the injured warrior and checked over the wound again. "Is it still stinging? The poultice should fix that soon." She smiled, her eyes shining like icy pools of water.

"Sorry, I'll go right now" *She nodded her head in respect then dashed out*

She frowned slightly and went over to the herb supply and began to sort through a pile of herbs she collected earlier.

*Dewpaw later returned with poppyheads* "These are it. They're narrower than foxglove seeds AND to prove it I compared them" *She beams happily with joy*

"Good," she said with a smile. "Now can you tell me why queens cannot have poppy seeds?"

Um........why?

Froststream looked over at the apprentice. "Have you ever learned about parsley and borage leaves?" She asked. "I learned a little about them. Borage leaves helps queens have better and more milk and parsley dries it up, right, Echoriver?" She asked. She had learned about a few simple herbs in case of emergencies, and she thought it was interesting though fighting was more her style.

A while later, Froststream stretched. "My paw is good now, I think. Thanks again!" She meowed. She shifted her weight carefully onto the paw, and it didn't hurt. She smiled, and padded out of the den.
