The brush

He padded through the brush, his eyes narrowed as he watched his surroundings. He sighted a rabbit and reared up, then ran towards it. He easily out-ran the rabbit and snatched it up in his jaws, killing it.

She grinned in amusement then padded out from the brush and approached the wolf. "Nice kill," she barked.

He proudly smiled and placed the rabbit down at Aiyana's paws, "Thanks. Would you like to share with me?" He kindly nudged her.

She shuffled her paws and grinned at the offer. "Sure," she replied, shyly. "Are you liking life within the pack?"

He nodded, "I love it. I was born a lone wolf.. Time was tough, very tough. I'm glad to be here, where I can trust others, where there is safety." He nudged her, gently. "You're a good alpha," he lowered his head. "Where are you from, originally?"

She flattened her ears and heaved a sad sigh, "Oh.. That's awful. I'm sorry to hear that. My sister and I were raised in the pack."

He licked her ear and slowly shook his head. "The past does not define who you are," he said, gazing out into the distance. A playful grin came to his muzzle as he swiped a paw at the alpha's ears, "Sorry! I thought I saw a bug!" He smirked.

She laughed and dropped into a play-bow. A growl came from her as she leaped at the male wolf. "You're so cheeky!" She said in between giggles.

He laughed and tumbled into the long grass. He licked her cheek, smirking. "Me, cheeky? Oh.. No, of course not," he barked.

She rolled off him and shot him a smirk. She heaved a happy sigh and gazed up into the sky. "I love it here," she said.

He peered over to her and nodded, "I can't agree with you more." He cheekily pawed at her, his head shyly lowered. "Aiyana? I love you," he said, barely audible. "You're so beautiful and sweet, caring yet brave. I've never felt like this before.." He batted a paw at her again and lifted his head. "Will you be my mate?"

She blushed and shyly lowered her head. No one had ever called her such things at once! She couldn't help but laugh and press her pelt against his. "Of course, of course, Okami! I love you," she said as she licked his ear.

He gasped in amazement and licked her ear. "I was worried that you would not feel the same," he said, sighing. "For the first time, I was scared for something other than my survival."

She felt her skin burn. "You're so sweet," she said, sighing contently. She pressed her nose to your ear, "You're silly for worrying, though. I'm crazy about you."

He shuffled his paws and licked her cheek. "I'm pleased to hear that," he said.

She licked his ear. "Come on, let's go to our den."

He rubbed up against her and nodded.

The beta narrowed her eyes and shifted slightly in the long grass. Mischa took a swift breath of air and exhaled, preparing herself for the hunt. The deer was just ahead, it's head bowed down to the ground; grazing. Without hesitation, the wolf bolted out from her hiding spot and chased the beast as fast as her paws could carry her. Her snowy paws thumping against the hard and dusty ground. She threw her head up high and howled a piercing cry. Mischa began to smirk as she hurled her lean body at the deer, killing it with a brutal bite. "Prey for Mischa!" She barked in delight, her tail wagging. The Beta took a large bite out of the deer and glanced around for anyone who might like to share.

*the pup sees mischa eating* yummy! *runs up to mischa.* hi! *grabs mouthful and runs away laughing*

The beta emitted a growl, cheeky pup she thought to herself before continuing to eat the kill.

Shanook ran past, chasing something into the distance.

The young wolf pads up to Mishca and smirks, "Hello, your seeming generous, I noticed that cheeky pup stealing prey from you."

Aiyana padded briskly past.

Fenris padded by nonchalantly, his eyes were dull, almost as if he were lost in thought.

Shanook turned to Fenris. "Are you okay?"

Fenris looked over at Shanook. "I'm fine." He barked simply.

Shanook shot the wolf a smile, "Good," he said. "Prey is becoming harder to find," he said, grumbling, almost.

Fenris returned the smile, though only weakly. "I know..." He muttered, as a flicker of concern shone in his eyes. Letting out a defeated sigh the male admitted. "...I can't help but worry for the pack."

Waya pads past, her green eyes narrowed. She dipped her head briefly st Shanook beforen nuzzling her mate. "It is normal to worry...we ate fitting now..we are a partbof them."

The male nodded, slowly. "Yes, I believe everyone is worrying. But, we are strong and.. If we get desperate, there are some fluffy squirrels in that direction?" The tom flicked his tail to the clan territory and chuckled, jokingly. xD

Okami padded through the brush, catching half of what Shanook said. "Fluffy squirrels?" He tilt his head, laughing.

"Cats," he corrected himself, nudging the alpha teasingly. "I hear Aiyana is expecting? I believe a congratulations is in order."

He cracked a little smile at that comment, "I prefer calling them squirrels." Letting out a small chuckle, the scout then turns to the alpha. "Yes, how could I forget?" He dips his head. "Congradulations."

Shanook grinned, his ears flicking. "It will be nice," he said,

Okami civilly bowed his head. "Thank you," he said. "I cannot wait!"

"It will be nice to see some pups." He agreed, somewhat warming up to these two wolves. "Though lets hope that they aren't too adventurous!" Fenris let out a light smirk, as fragments of memories flooded through him. It only seems like my first sunrise here... and yet I feel at home.

Waya brushes past, offering a warm smile to the wolves and nodded respectfully at Okami. "Congratulations," she spoke with a vague warm sparkle in her eyes. She brushed against Fenris.

"Congratulations to you two, too," he barked to Fenris and Waya. "Beta pair?" He cocked a smile. "Well done!"

Fenris let out a sheepish chuckle, flashing a croaked but proud grin. "Thanks, I never expected to be a Beta."

"You work hard," Okami interrupted, "Aiyana and I felt you were most suited for the rank." The alpha-male smiled, his black ears twitched as a fly buzzed past.

Dyani padded along, her eyes bright as she approached the brush. She sat down in the long grass and relaxed, slowly sighing as she thought about things. Things as in her life, she loved her life, but, she was lonely ever since the death of her kin.

"You are a great beta," She barked quietly with a slight lift of her head as she nuzzled her mate. "You deserve it." Her eyes sparkle as she blinked. She was always..quiet.

Shanook nodded in agreement with Waya's comment then turned to Dyani. "Why not join us?" He barked, revealing a smile.

Dyani smiled at the wolf then excitedly pranced over at the invitation. "Hi!" She barked a greeting, her tail wagging ecstatically.

Shanook peered across to the other wolves then glanced back to Dyani. "Do you want to hunt?" A small smile split at the corners of his mouth.

The thought brightened her expression, "Sure!" She barked, her tail wagged from side to side. "That sounds delightful. Say," barked the wolf, "What is your favorite prey?" Her golden eyes were on the wolf's as she began to pad along the brush, the grass catching to the ends of her belly-fur.

Shanook revealed a cheeky grin and swiped a large paw out at her muzzle. "Tough one," he said, contemplating his response, "Perhaps.. Elk or Deer. What about you?" Shanook's shaggy grey tail wiggled across the ground. "Do you want to try and catch one together?

"You're a great beta too." He smiles at Waya gently, swishing his tail side to side. A flicker of pride shone in his gaze, as he then glanced over at the other wolves, contemplating whether or not to add to the conversation. "I could go for a nice elk right about now." He finally barked.

Dyani wagged her tail, her eyes like shining stars. "Ohh, yes, Elk!" She beamed, cheerily. She jumped to her paws - excitedly, "Yes, let's! Shall we stay around here?" She barked as she began to trot forward.
