The Abandoned Twoleg Nest

She trotted in, her deep blue eyes falling on the nest. "When was this here?" She murmured, parting her jaws to scent the air and relaxed. "But where is the..." she frowned and flattened an ear, slowly as she poked her head in, peering around. "Mice," she said, her deep blue eyes gleaming. "It is safe. I better report to NightmareStar," she decided and trotted off.

PreyPaw clumsily tripped over a root which stuck out of the ground; sending him flying towards the two-leg nest. He landed on the wood of the old abandoned two-leg nest then quickly got up and brushed himself off. He sniffed the air then decided to turn back and search the territory some more.

The pale brown deputy brushed by, her deep blue eyes shifting to PreyPaw, seeing what just happened, including the part where he tripped over a root. She trots over, lightly touching her nose to his ear. "Are you okay?" She said, nudging the apprentice lightly, concerned. Her ears pricked as she heard the sound of prey moving around. Dropping into a light, balanced crouch, stepping lightly on the solid ground. She peered around, finding the mouse easily. She leaped and gave it an extremely quick blow, finishing it off swiftly. She picked it up in her jaws and ducked out the nest, quickly burying it as she starts to the scent once more.

CreekStorm watched the apprentice and ran over to him, her fluffy pelt catching on the breeze. Snow began to fall onto her black pelt. "ARE YOU OKAY? That looked ouchy!" She exclaimed as she sniffed the apprentice.

Her eyes shifted to CreekStorm, shaking her head while laughing. She peered worriedly at PreyPaw. "That must had hurt," she said, "Do you want to go to the medicine cat?"

AcornStep came in the area with a twisted, lazy trot. She straightened up after she scented mice. "I didn't know mice were here!" she mewed silently. AcornStep saw the other cats here and instantly knew it was a hunting ground. She ran inside the abandoned two-leg nest and hesitated. AcornStep wiggled her nose around and scented rats. She then started padding slowly. Then, she saw a hidden mouse in dust. AcornStep crouched before stalking close to it and making the perfect leap. Paws and claws first, she landed on the mouse's neck. AcornStep picked up the mouse in her jaws and padded to the fresh-kill pile.

PreyPaw shook out his pelt; dust covered his fluffy orange fur. He gave a smile and shook his head. "No," he meowed, "Thank you both. But, I'm okay..I just wasn't watching where I was going." He glanced up at the old two-leg-nest with glowing interest. "What is this place?"

"Okay," she meowed, nodding. "This is a Twoleg Nest. Luckily, they left it. Mice like prey are often in there." She said, flicking an ear.

"Oohh," he exclaimed, gazing around in awe. "I saw it and thought I had somehow crossed the border." He gave a slight, yet embarrassed grin.

She laughed. "Luckily, you didnt. It‘s full of prey, but, I still don't like to stay too long in it."

"We have to be careful there, though," she flattened one ear. "Sometimes the mice in there have illnesses." She glanced to ChipmunkFire and flattened an ear,

"So we must check over our prey before ee bring them to camp," she said, nodding at Creek.

RoaringFire trotted in and looked around for some unfortunate mouse.

"Ohh," PreyPaw meowed in interest. He gave a slight nod. "I'm going to go back to the clan camp," he said. He gave the two cats a warm grin the bounded off.

A spiky warrior padded in. He gazed around d the unfamiliar new territory and tilt his head. "Interesting," he said.

She flicked an ear. "SnakeHiss!" She greeted.

He gave a slight yet crooked smile. "Hey, how are you?"

"Okay. You?" She said, her deep blue eyes resting on him

He gave a small shrug, "I'm good." He lashed a paw out at her ears, "Do you want to hunt?" His mind was elsewhere, but, he still made an attempt to be nice.

"Why no-" she began, than broke off, peering at him anxiously, "Something is bothering you," sge said,

He flicked an ear and glanced away. "It's nothing, really." he said.

Her eyes met his for a moment, "I wouldn't call that nothing. You could tell me." She said, softly.

He glanced to her then stepped over towards her. "I'm in love with PigeonFeather," he said. His mottled brown ears flattened against his head. "No need to lecture on about how it's wrong and against the warrior code. I already know and she has made it clear that she wants to end it. She's scared that HowlingStar will find out. I hate it so much. I just want to be with her."

She paused and sat down, her deep blue eyes emotionless, asher eyes met his. "I know you liked PigeonFeather," she said at last. "I figured out a while ago."

"Why did you not say anything?" He tilt his head, somewhat surprised.

A long moment og silence passed. "Because I made the same mistake before, moons ago." She said at last, slowly flattening her ear. "Yes, I felled in love with a cat Iw asnt supposed to, a cat from my rival clan, We met for a few moons, it was so hard to keep the secret from my clan, I hated it, but, I loved him. But, he left me anyways." Her blue eyes met his as she meowed softly, "Would have I stopped you from meeting her if I told you to? I don't think so, SnakeHiss. You would have not listened to me. You would keep on meeting her." She said quietly.

He slightly smirked and gave her a swift nod. "Perhaps that's true," he meowed. His spiky head lowered, his mottled ears went flat. "She's expecting my kits, you know," he said, sighing. "I can't stay here if she's in SombreClan with my kits..I want my kits to know who their father is, I want to be with her. She's tried to end it with me, but, I refuse. I don't care, those are my kits and I will not have them grow up thinking their father is some mousebrained rogue." He was almost yelling. He was angered, frustrated and sad at the same time.

The pale brown deputy stared at him. No emotions flicked in her blue eyes - nothing to show what she was feeling. Not even a flick of an ear, a twitch of her whiskers. She lowered her head for a moment before lifted it up. "I understand, but, please...please don't leave, SnakeHiss." She said, softly. Almost pleadingly.

"I can't leave her to look after these kits alone," he said, shaking his head. His green eyes fixed on the ground. He slowly elevated his head. "What kind of father would I be..If I left them to believe lies.." He shook his head, his mind was already made up. He hated the idea of leaving, it burned in him like a forest ablaze. "I have to do this," he said. "I know it's wrong, I know my love with her was wrong..I know that if I storm in there and tell the truth..It will get me no praise, no kindness and no mercy. But, I don't care. Those kits will know the truth and I won't let PigeonFeather have to care for them alone. She and those kits mean more to me than anything else in this forest."

Shr simply avoided his gaze. "When are you leaving?" Her blue eyesw ere fixed on the ground.

CreekStorm burst out through the bushes, "WHY ARE YOU LEAVING!?" She howled like a kit. She began to flatten her ears. "I heard a cat's name.. DoveFeather? Who's that?" She frowned and prodded him with a paw. "Why can't you stay?"

Stormingwind trotted by, pausing as he heard the commotion. He padded towards the three cats. "What's up?" He tilted his head quizzically, eyes flashing with concern.

"RobinFeather? Someone feather?" The warrior plopped herself down and stared at SnakeHiss.

Stormingwind peered at the tom, unsure, then at Creekstorm, then back to Snakehiss. "Is it a she-cat?" He meowed hesitantly, a frown on his face.

She sighs, rolling her eyes. "You heard erong," she said, laughing. "Why would SnakeHiss leave? We were,just recalling the times when the other clans were here. We thought PigeonFeather seemed to adapt l quickly in our territory," she said, flicking an ear. She gently swipef her paw at SnakeHiss‘s ear, smiling. "A bit too quickly." She meowed thoughtully.

SnakeHiss narrowed his green eyes and hissed. He was annoyed at the way ChipmunkFire used her as an example and at the other two for just being there. "I'm tired of this place," he said, a growl almost in his tone. He nodded gravely to the two she-cats then padded away.

She flattened an ear, feeling her temper starting to rise up. Can you think of anyone else that has feather in theit name?! She nodded at the two cats.

Stormingwind flattened an ear, his fur rising up. "Is this the reason that you're leaving? That we're a bunch of annoying furballs?"

SnakeHiss whirled around and narrowed his green eyes to StormingWind. The mottled warrior was angered, annoyed and frustrated, almost like a ticking time bomb..When would be explode. The warrior growled, "What I do, is none of your business." He turned back and continued to pad towards SombreClan territory.

She let out a soft whimper. "Bye, SnakeHiss!" She cried out after him.

The pale brown deputy pressef her pelt against CreekStorm, and her voice turned frosty, "None of our buisness? We may not be your clanmated anymore, SnakeHiss, but we once were." She flicked an ear.

"He left for a she-cat, didn't he?" CreekStorm meowed, her eyes were dull as she was sad. She began to quieten down, slightly, "PigeonFeather, right?"

She lowered her head, the faintest trace of tears gleaming her eyes. Her best friend.....left like that, for a she - cat. "Maybe," she said softly, pinning her ears back.

CricketShade had not noticed what had happened but caught a glimpse of the two sad she-cats. "Are you two okay?"

She blinked back the tears and forced a tiny smile on her muzzle, an ear flattened. "Yeah, I'm okay." She said quietly.

She stared up at CricketShade and leaned against Munk for reassurance.

Taking a few shuddering breaths, she pressed her nose against CreekStorm‘s fur, tears rapidly sliding from her cheeks.

CricketShade tilt his head and took a few steps forward. Do I want to know...I don't want to cause trouble..Or get involved where it's not my business. "What happened?" He asked, softly, almost shyly.

She lifted her gead, not sure what to say. But, in the end, everyone will know. "SnakeHiss is what happened," she aid, softly. "My best fruend left for a she cat. Not that you arent," she smiled weakly at Creeky, trembling.

Creeky grinnned, her eyes bright. A goofy grin on her face. "SnakeHiss was cool!"
